Richard Cameron started his cricket career as a bowler who batted a bit but has since developed into a genuine allrounder. So much so that he is used flexibly anywhere in the order for the Lions. Cameron has been playing first-class cricket since he was 21 and was part of the team that won the SAA Provincial three-day challenge in the 2006-07 season. The next season, Cameron took 3 for 28 as Gauteng won the one-day competition, beating Northerns in the final. He made his 20-over debut in the 2009-10 season and made an immediate impact. His career-best figures of 4 for 23 in the second leg of the semi-final against the Titans played a pivotal role in the Lions qualifying for the Champions League T20.
